Skiing on Antarctica is about as rad as it gets. The Antarctic peninsula is a dream for ski exploration, steep skiing, ski mountaineering, and some of the most beautiful views possible from a pair of skis. I liken it to stepping off of a boat and into the Alaska Range. It's rad.
Neumayer Channel, Port Lockroy, Ciervo Cove, Greenwich Island, Cuverville Island . . . all places you'd never hear of until being one of the first to walk there with skis! Penguin watching doesn't get old, and they'll come up to you if you sit there long enough!
I've done 2 trips: 1 with Quark Expeditions and the inagural Ice Axe trip the following year. While the trip has increased 4x in price since I went, it is a pretty cool experience, and crossing the Drake Passage in a boat from Ushuaia amplifies the adventure!
