Alaska skiing ’12 – starting the year with CA creek exploration

Backcountry skiing California Creek in Girdwood certainly has some worthy terrain and is a fun exploration.

That said, I have a life philosophy that says “never hike out CA creek” – I’ve done it once and swore I drew the conclusion that it should never be done again . . . but, funny how life works, and how a group of 5 can suddenly get lured into “it’s gotta be all downhill from here.”  We made it out, but it took 3 hours and some 5th class navigation . . . a fun adventure, but always worth it to hike over and ski powder off the front side!!!

Thanks to Paul, Corky, Jeremy, and Phil for a great day!
