About an hour from Muscat, Bimmah Sinkhole is a worthy and easy (5 mins off the roadway) road trip stop on the way to Wadi Shab or all points south.
We left the car in our clothes, thinking we’d just have a look, but it was too compelling to swim so we swam in our clothes! Totally worth it.
Perfect turquoise water, a rope to climb up for a small cliff jump, and the options to find much bigger cliffs for a proper cliff dive. So, plan on Bimmah Sinkhole swimming when you leave the car!
The sinkhole was formed by a collapse of the surface layer due to dissolution of the underlying limestone. Some locals think it was caused by a meteorite, so it’s Arabic name means the ‘deep hole of the falling star.’
